PerfectMomentReview

Igniting the Wild Sparks is the single most difficult book that I’ve reviewed so far. This book carried so much emotion. I’ve read reviews before where people say that they had to put the book down for awhile because the emotions were to strong. That has never happened to me before, until Igniting the Wild Sparks. I have never cried so much during a book. My eyes were blood shot and swollen.

In Igniting the Wild Sparks Finn is still trying to work up the courage to pop the big question, while Becks is still trying to come to terms with having a life with Finn but never getting married or having a family. There is a lot of angst throughout the book. Finn and Becks love each other fiercely but are both stubborn and want what they want. It is difficult for either of them to give up on their beliefs and overcome their fears. It is devastating to watch their relationship during the rocky points because they hurt each other so easily. There is love, laughter, betrayal, manipulation, angst, and trickery throughout the book.

Ren Alexander is truly a wonderful writer. I have never in my life felt so attached to two characters. Ren draws you in and captures your full attention. I had to wait a week before I could write this review because there was no way I could write it without letting my emotions get in the way. Even now, a week after reading it, it still gets to me. I really hope Ren Alexander decides to continue Finn and Becks story as I am extremely anxious to read more. This book deserves 5 outstanding stars!

Synopsis

What would you do if the love of your life doesn’t want the same life you do? Hadley Beckett has failed in not only her career, but as a daughter, friend, and girlfriend. Hadley’s longtime boyfriend, Finn Wilder, who is Richmond, Virginia’s local daredevil and favorite sportscaster, isn’t afraid of anything…almost. Hadley desperately wants a marriage and kids with him, the two things Finn infamously dreads. Finn pressures Hadley into moving in with him, but being traditional, she wants to be married first and she wants to stick to her beliefs, just as he clings to his own. On the other hand, Finn has tolerated Hadley’s stubbornness long enough and he’s reaching his breaking point. Fearing at 33 that she will soon be too old to have kids, Hadley wants Finn to change his mind and marry her, yet her insecurities about his public life and from his constant rebuffs have her questioning her aspirations. With conflicting advice from her friends, Hadley concludes she should take things into her own hands. But then again, Finn Wilder has his own story to tell.

Review

Ok, this review is going to be very hard for me to write. Not because I didn’t like it or because I’m having a hard time coming up with the right words. No, this review is hard to write because I don’t want to stop reading Daring the Wild Sparks, the next book in the series! Yes, I have become quite obsessed with Finn and Becks!

Finn and Becks love each other so deeply it is borderline obsession. They both want the same thing, to be together forever. However, they also both doubt the others love. The reason is because Finn refuses to marry Becks, which is her dream, and Becks refuses to move in with Finn, which is his dream. What do you do when the love of your life refuses to fully commit?

It’s so heartbreaking to watch the troubles between Finn and Becks because you just know they love each other so much. So much so that they just can not see it themselves. They hurt each other so often because they both fear the other will leave. They are very insecure about their relationship but as a reader I knew to the very marrow of my bones that neither would leave the other.

Ren Alexander has done a phenomenal job of keeping my attention throughout this book. The world in which she has created is completely captivating. There were so many times I wanted to shake some sense into the characters. The side characters are absolutely hilarious!! I laughed and teared up and got so frustrated so much while reading this book. The passion between Finn and Becks is explosive and often had me hot and bothered.

Okay, I’m wrapping this review up because I’ve been away from Finn and Becks for far too long. I give Chasing the Wild Spark 10 wonderful and beautiful stars!!

Synopsis

In the follow up to “Chasing the Wild Sparks,” Hadley Beckett’s quest for wedded bliss perseveres… What would you do if the love of your life were closer to making your dreams come true? Riding high in her relationship with her sportscaster/local daredevil boyfriend Finn Wilder, Hadley Beckett makes plans concerning her future with Finn. Big plans. Infamously anti-marriage, Finn promised Hadley he’d consider taking her to the altar if she gives him more time. Diving headfirst and with encouragement from friends, Hadley formulates her own way to handle Finn if he can’t commit to her soon. Knowing she has an uphill climb ahead of her, Hadley is still determined to succeed, yet is she unwittingly destined to fail?

Review

In the second installment of Ren Alexander’s Sparks series Finn and Becks still struggle with their belief that one will leave the other. The love that they hold for each other is borderline unhealthy. I know that they both belong together and want them to be together but I kept getting so frustrated with their mistrust with each other. I felt down in my soul that nothing would tear them apart.

It’s so maddening to watch these two people, who love each other unconditionally, fear that their love is, in fact, conditional. Their love is there for everyone to see, and everyone does see it, but they can not see it themselves. Their irrational fear is putting a major strain on their relationship and it hurt my heart to witness it.

Ren is such an amazing writer. Her attention to detail is outstanding. The way she portrays Finn and Becks relationship and their issues is believable. Many couples go through the same thing on a daily basis. I can not tell you how obsessed I have become to finish out Finn and Becks story. It’s not that I want to finish their story, it’s that I NEED to. This story has left me with so many feelings that I don’t know what to do with them all. Daring the Wild Sparks has definitely earned a permanent place on my bookshelf.

Release Date: April 22, 2014
Genre: Paranormal/Fantasy Adult Romance

PART ONE: SEEK & FIND (COLT & HARPER)
Colt Withers' life changed October 31st, 2012. That Halloween night, he needed to forget his twin sister Rachel. Unexpectedly, he stumbles upon a wicked voodoo queen. Now, after a not-so-lucky encounter, Colt must find his true love, gain her love, and learn to love himself, all before the New Year is rung in. Or forever remain a werewolf.
Harper Grace has been quiet and reserved ever since her mother died when she was twelve. She has tried to be in control of everything. Her dad tries his best and Harper loves him for it, but without her mom, she is lost--until she meets the mysterious Colt Withers. Colt is like no one else she has ever met, but she knows he has secrets-- things that she doesn't do well with, since she can't control the outcome. And she hates not being in control. When he reveals his secrets, can she handle it and stand by the only person to make her feel alive since the passing of her mother, or will she run and revert back into her self-controlled shell?
PART TWO: FINDING OZZIE (OZZIE AND REBECCA)
When you watch your best friend find her soul mate, it's hard not to want that for yourself. That was how Rebecca Patton felt watching her friend Harper fall in love with Colt. But an ordinary girl's night out with Harper changes everything when Becca meets Ozzie. She feels a connection to him, but then he disappears for five months, and Becca begins to question whether or not it is possible for her to have the fairy tale. When he comes back, Becca will have to determine if she can have faith and trust as she takes a chance on this very handsome—and very mysterious—man.
Ozzie is a wizard. And a pretty important one, at that. As son of the Headmaster of West Witch Academy, a "special" hidden school in a shady part of New Orleans, he certainly has his future planned out for him. But it's not particularly one that he wants—especially now that he's met Rebecca. But his dad's all-too-young "woman" is into some sick and twisted games, and if he wants to escape his so-called destiny and have a chance at forever with Rebecca, he is going to have to play them.
PART THREE: SEEKING NEVERLAND (PETER & FOREST)
Forest McAdams just moved into New Orleans and knows no one until she meets her neighbor Rebecca Patton and her fiancé Ozzie. They seem nice and soon she is hanging out with Becca's friends. That was how she met Peter, sort of. Ozzie's best friend. His crystal blue eyes seer through her and before she can blink she's in Peter's arms and their fighting to save his life.
Peter is a fairy, yep that's right wings, flying and a bit of magic dust. No one knows his true identity, not even Ozzie who he has known his whole life. He wasn't always a fairy. The change happened two years ago when his father suddenly disappeared, the only reason he was given, his mother. When he reconnects with Forest they get thrown into a world where make believe becomes reality, and second chances are possible. Peter just wants peace, nirvana, Neverland.
One more game, faith and trust.
Ask yourself do you believe in fairies?

My husband and I have been married for almost seven years, but we have been together since our junior year of high school and we have known each other since 8th grade, yes a long time.
I am a Florida girl at heart, but since getting married I have lived in Washington, South Carolina, and our latest move Connecticut. I hold a B.A. in Multimedia Journalism with a minor in Political Science from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida.
Writing is something I love and since I am blessed to be a stay at home mom I thought I would try my hand at getting the stories in my head out and see how far I could go. I tried a few years ago to go through a Literary Agency, but it went nowhere. The self-publishing market was just starting to get hot so I self-published two books mainly for family and friends.  I then discovered the world of New Adult. I wanted to stick with my paranormal roots and began thinking up story ideas that took on not only a paranormal element, but a fantasy element as well
My Motto: Not your average Fairy Tales
So, that is me in a nutshell. I am a little crazy and simple and I love my life and my family. I’m thrilled to be part of the Bayou Brew Publishing Family.

Review

Book two of Shakuita Johnson’s Dark Indiscretions series starts out with Krista fighting the darker part of her supernatural nature. After being tortured by her sadistic father in book one she can no longer hold off the natural pulls of destruction. She leaves her mates behind to go out into the world alone, but soon finds out that she wants and needs them.

Jennifer struggles with what her daughter is becoming. She wants to believe that her daughter can be brought back but after the stories she’s heard fears it may be too late. Jackson and Taylor will do anything to protect Jennifer, even if that means destroying her first born.

Nathan and Taz know that Krista has gone off the deep end but neither of them can truly write Krista off. After all, she is their mate, and as such, can not break the bond and ties that connect them together.

Again, like book one, this book moved a little too fast for me. There were a lot of stories going on at once. I’m not exactly sure which characters were meant to be the main characters. However, the story line itself was intriguing. New developments came about that kept me very interested. I often found myself anticipating what would happen next, only to be surprised that what I thought would happen didn’t. This book left me wanting more and I’m anxiously waiting to see what happens in the third book.

Excerpt

1625

It had been two months. Two months since she killed her whole family. Two months since she ran and never looked back. Two months of looking over her shoulder. Something was wrong with her. Jennifer Johnston just knew it. She was craving things she had never wanted before, never ever had needed. It was getting harder and harder to resist the silent call, the cravings that started to crawl up her throat to the point of choking her with their mounting intensity. She didn’t know how much longer she could run, how much longer she could say no to these sudden scary and violent urges.

She needed to find someone to talk to, another Mystic perhaps, but she didn’t know who she could trust. She had done something no other Mystic had done before. She wasn’t like the rest of them. She was different. Some may even say defective. She didn’t want to become an inbred freak like the rest of them, but she feared it had been done. The things her uncle had succeeded in doing before she could get away from him, before she had the strength to kill him, may be coming back to haunt her.

She needed to rest for just a little while. That old barn looked like as good a place as any. She would only rest for a second more. As she quickly and quietly made her way to her destination, she heard noises in the distance. What sounded like a tiny cavalry was coming up fast behind her. She tried to duck before she was spotted, but it seemed her luck was still running thin. She braced herself for a possible fight.

“Halt! What business do you have on this land?” a male voice called out.

“I’m just a bit lost. Could you point me in the direction of an inn?” Jenny asked, trying to appear disoriented.

“Lying Mystic scum! We can smell your trickery and deceit from here. Where are the rest of you? What trap is this?” the male demanded.

Shit. Humans she could have easily dealt with, other paranormals not so much. This would be tricky. She counted eight soldiers. They should have brought more.

“I don’t want any trouble. Leave me be and I’ll be on my way,” Jenny tried to reason with the creatures.

“Grab her!” the male demanded.

Awesome! They were going to play try to capture the Mystic. Jenny did something she had never done before. She used her Mystic powers. She called upon all the energy she could muster, which was a whole hell of a lot, and let loose. Damn, something was defiantly changing with her right now, but she didn’t have time to explore it. She heard screams from all eight men. She had overloaded their nervous systems. She could see blood start to seep from any and everywhere possible. It was disgusting.

Not wanting them to suffer more than they were already, Jenny sent a final blast and everything stopped. Not a single heart beat anymore. She had killed them, every last one of them. She didn’t have time to feel bad for the lives she had taken. They left her no choice. The worst part of it all, she thought to herself, was that she should have drained at least one of them dry. She was so fucking hungry! She performed a quick spell to turn the bodies to ash and continued on her way to that damn barn.
